BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — On This Week in Louisiana Politics, House GOP lawmakers have passed a bill to cut approximately $9 billion in federal spending, fulfilling one of President Donald Trump’s top priorities.

The spending cuts target at least $1 billion in foreign aid and hundreds of millions of dollars allocated to public broadcasting services like PBS and NPR.

President Donald Trump signed the HALT Fentanyl Act into law earlier this week. The HALT Fentanyl Act was authored by U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, a Republican from Louisiana, who was present at the signing ceremony alongside other dignitaries and members of the press.

Cassidy discussed the HALT Fentanyl Act.

Looking ahead, Roxson Welch, Director of the East Baton Rouge Parish Family and Youth Services Center, will speak at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, July 21, about the center’s new facility and resources for families.
