Woman killed, man injured in early-morning South Side drive-by

CHICAGO — A woman is dead and a man is recovering in the hospital after they were shot in what police believe was an early morning drive-by on the city’s South Side.

Chicago police say they were first called to the scene just before 1 a.m. Saturday, following a report of a person shot in the area.

When officers arrived, they found the victims, a 37-year-old and a male, whose age is unknown.

According to police, a preliminary investigation indicates that the victims were struck by gunfire when an unknown individual opened fire from a vehicle nearby before fleeing the scene.
