Weekend weather: Some rain Saturday & some sun Sunday

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The chance of scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will continue on Saturday with near-normal temperatures.  Sunshine returns on Sunday as we begin a long stretch of hot and dry weather.

Some rain Saturday & Some sun Sunday:  Futurecast shows that scattered showers and thunderstorms that have developed Friday afternoon will decrease Friday evening.  A few showers could start to redevelop late Friday night over parts of East Texas and Northwest Louisiana. The coverage of the rain on Saturday will not be as high as it has been today. The threat of rain will end Saturday evening, and we will start to see the clouds decrease on Saturday night, with a mix of clouds and sunshine returning on Sunday. 

How much rain? The hi-res version of Futurecast shows that most of the areas that receive rain will get less than ½”.  We could see a few pockets that receive an additional 1 to 2”.  It still appears that the NW quarter of the area will stay dry. 

Saturday temperatures: Thanks to lots of clouds over most of the area, temperatures will be near or below normal Saturday afternoon.  Lows Saturday morning will once again be in the mid to upper 70s.  Daytime highs will range from the upper 80s to lower 90s over E TX and NW LA, where clouds will be most numerous, to the low to mid 90s over the NW half of the area.

Long-range outlook: A large dome of upper-level high pressure will develop over the southern half of the country next week.  This will bring a long stretch of very hot and dry weather.  Highs next week will likely return to the upper 90s with a few locations hitting the triple digits. Overnight lows will stay in the mid to upper 70s.  Have a great weekend!!!
