More heat with pop-up storms will be around for Sunday. After starting out hot and humid, temperatures will warm quickly as highs reach the lower 90s. Spotty storms will develop once again during the afternoon hours to provide some heat relief.
In the tropics, we are monitoring one area in the Main Development Region of the Atlantic. It has a low chance of development through the next week as it moves westward. We have plenty of time to watch it in the days ahead as it heads towards the Caribbean. The rest of the tropics, Caribbean, and Gulf remain quiet.
Locally, hot and humid weather will settle in to begin next week with highs reaching the mid 90s across Acadiana. A few storms will be possible, but through midweek, we won’t see many showers and storms. Increased rain chances return late next week as tropical moisture returns to the area. The higher rain chances will lead to cooler afternoon temperatures in the 80s for highs.
