The event aims to help tackle invasive species that cause over $120B in environmental damage each year.
Presented by The North Shreveport Lions Club in partnership with the Bossier City Lions Club, the catch and cook bowfishing competition will not only aim to catch the biggest fish, but bring on the flavor.
The two-day event will begin on October 17 with rules and check-in at the Red River South Marina & Resort before embarking on a 12-hour fishing expedition. Participants will search for their 20 best fish, which must include at least three Asian Carp.
The following day will begin early in the parking lot of Bass Pro Shops and Chasing Aces. Here, not only will they weigh the fish, but onlookers will enjoy cooking lessons and taste tests with French chef and author of “Can’t Beat Em, Eat Em” Chef Phillipe Parola. His recipe book details how to cook up 40 different invasive species.
This is also where the culinary teams from each military branch will compete for a prize while three Food Network judges are introduced and rate the dishes by flavor and presentation.
The catch, they must use the receipt from Page 35 of the book only to substitute one ingredient or adding one ingredient.
