BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Baltimore Orioles broadcaster and former LSU ace Ben McDonald is recovering from a serious fall after plunging 25 feet from a deer stand.

McDonald shared an update from his hospital bed on social media, where he’s seen surrounded by loved ones. “This is what a severe concussion looks and sounds like,” the post read.

In the video, McDonald appears confused and asks what happened. Someone off camera explains that the chain or strap broke. The fall left McDonald with a concussion and two cracked vertebrae.

“Apparently I fell out of a deer stand 25 feet up,” he said, adding, “I’ll be back in #Birdland soon calling @Orioles games!”

He also thanked the doctors and everyone who reached out with support.

McDonald, who starred at LSU for three seasons, pitched seven years for the Orioles and was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.
