If you’re hoping to squeeze in some outdoor plans this weekend, keep an eye on the sky. Summer storms are back in the picture.
Rain and scattered thunderstorms are set to return to Chicagoland this weekend and could linger into early next week.
But in true Midwest summer fashion, these showers will be hit-or-miss, leaving plenty of dry windows to get in your outside activities.
Saturday looks to be the stormier of the two days, with a couple waves of showers and thunderstorms likely to sweep through the region.
Temperatures will warm back to seasonable levels, and humidity will climb as well, with sticky 70-degreee dewpoints making a muggy comeback.
Sunburn times on Saturday will be around 29 minutes at 1 p.m. and 60 minutes at 4 p.m.
Sunday looks to offer a calmer, more comfortable outlook. Expect cloudy skies with breakthrough periods of sun with just a few isolated showers possible in the afternoon.
Highs will hover around 80 degrees, with cooler temps near the lakefront thanks to a light onshore breeze.
It’s been a warm start to Climatological Summer. The period since June 1st is averaging 3.5 degrees above normal, good enough to rank 5th warmest of the past 154 years!
Rain and potential thunderstorm chances return to the forecast this weekend and into early next week. Heat begins to really take hold across the Midwest beginning on Tuesday.
