Casey Cares 5k at Maryland Zoo is raising funds for children with serious illnesses

BALTIMORE, Md. (DC News Now) — Those wanting to take a trip to the Maryland Zoo and support a great cause can do both at the same time this upcoming August.

The 16th Annual Casey Cares 5K Run/Walk is scheduled to be held at the zoo on Saturday, Aug. 2, at 8 a.m.

Friday is the deadline to register for those wanting a race shirt, but registration is open until the morning of the event.

Participants at this family-friendly event can run — or walk — as part of the fundraising event. The 5K helps raise funds to support programs for children facing life-threatening illnesses.

All proceeds go to Casey Cares Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides support to critically ill children and their families each year.
