Bicyclist killed in Prince George’s County collision

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A woman was killed in a New Carrollton hit-and-run collision that happened on Thursday night, the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) said.

Minutes before 8 p.m., City of New Carrollton police officers responded to the collision in the 8400 block of Annapolis Road, where they found 55-year-old Tara Carter, a bicyclist, had been hit by a car.

Though the driver involved did not stay at the scene, witness information and surveillance footage led police to find the person shortly after the crash.

Police say the driver struck Carter while traveling east on Annapolis Road. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Carter was taken to a hospital, where she later died.
