(WHTM) — Tourism is big business for Pennsylvania, but Gov. Josh Shapiro said it’s the small ones that support it.

Shapiro made a stop Thursday at the White Pine Country Store, Cafe and Lodge in Potter County. He brought along $162,000 in grant money.

Shapiro said he had to convince his chief of staff to help the store, which provides the only gasoline within 40 miles for ATV riders.

“And I said we gotta do something for these folks,” Shapiro said. “‘Do you know these people?’ I’m like, no. She’s like, ‘Have you been to that store?’ I’m like, ‘Nah, been to the area, not the store, but these are the kinds of folks government needs to step up and help.”

The area boasts hundreds of miles of ATV trails, including the Northcentral Regional ATV Trail, which officials said generates $13 million a year.
