Man walking across San Jose freeway struck, killed Friday
(KRON) — A man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 280 in San Jose Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal collision was reported just before 5 a.m. on northbound I-280 just south of Highway 17. CHP said a pedestrian was walking across the freeway for an unknown reason when he was hit by a Toyota Corolla sedan in the far left lane.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene at 5:09 a.m.

The driver of the Toyota, who was uninjured, remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigation. CHP said alcohol or drug intoxication is not suspected to be a factor for either the driver or the pedestrian.

The left lanes were reopened around 7 a.m.
