Man killed in Scioto County head-on crash

SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WOWK) – A man had died in a vehicle crash that also injured two women and a juvenile.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened just after 6 p.m. Thursday on State Route 73 near mile post 19 in Rush Township. The OSHP says a vehicle heading east on 73 went left of center and struck a westbound vehicle head-on.

Troopers say a passenger in the eastbound vehicle, identified by OSHP as Tommy R. Potter, 71, died at the scene. According to OSHP, the driver and a juvenile passenger in the eastbound vehicle were taken to a hospital with “serious” injuries.

The driver of the westbound vehicle was also taken to the hospital with “serious, but non-life-threatening injuries,” according to state police.

The crash is still under investigation by the OSHP.

The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, Rush Township Volunteer Fire Department, Scioto Squad 2, Portsmouth Ambulance, Scioto County Coroner’s Office and the Ohio Department of Transportation also responded to the scene.
