According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened just after 6 p.m. Thursday on State Route 73 near mile post 19 in Rush Township. The OSHP says a vehicle heading east on 73 went left of center and struck a westbound vehicle head-on.

The driver of the westbound vehicle was also taken to the hospital with “serious, but non-life-threatening injuries,” according to state police.
The crash is still under investigation by the OSHP.
The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, Rush Township Volunteer Fire Department, Scioto Squad 2, Portsmouth Ambulance, Scioto County Coroner’s Office and the Ohio Department of Transportation also responded to the scene.
