Whitney Thomas is making her pageant debut after a career in modeling. Thomas will represent Louisiana and the broader southern region in the Bahamas from July 20 to 27.
“I wanted to take it a little bit higher. I think modeling is more fashion, purses, and glam… that kind of stuff. But pageantry kind of gives you a different perspective. It’s more so about individuals who want to create change in their communities,” said Thomas.
Thomas is an ambassador for the Youth Peace Olympics and a coach for models. She said that showing off your outer beauty and confidence is as important as living in your purpose.
“This pageantry organization, Ms. Black International Ambassador, isn’t just about beauty and glam. It’s more about pouring into the delegates,” said Thomas.
Thomas said the ladies will test their physical and mental health while abroad. The ladies will be graded on fitness activities, community service in Nassau, and the stage competition. The pageant newbie said she plans to show up in style.
“I wanted to do something that’s more so the culture of Louisiana. So we’re heading to New Orleans with the costume. It’s going to be royal, it’s going to be feathery,” said Thomas.
“As a proud Baton Rouge native, stepping onto an international stage is more than just a personal achievement — it’s a chance to showcase the strength, beauty, and unique culture of our state and the South as a whole. I believe your viewers would find inspiration in this story of a local woman bringing Louisiana’s spirit to the world,” she said.
