Louisiana State Police troopers said that at 1:10 p.m., they were called to investigate a two-vehicle crash with serious injury on Louisiana Highway 21 near Lon Miley Road.
The investigation revealed a 2025 International HXH520 truck was traveling on a logging road toward the highway, just as 64-year-old Tommy J. Dollar was headed south in a Dodge Ram.
Troopers said for unknown reasons the International truck entered the intersection and into Dollar’s path, causing a collision on the truck driver side.
Dollar was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
The truck driver was not injured.
The investigation remains ongoing as toxicology results are pending.
“Troopers wish to remind motorists to always remain vigilant when approaching and entering intersections. Always come to a complete stop where required, scan for oncoming traffic in all directions, and proceed only when it is safe to do so,” said LSP Troop L.
