According to a press release from the City of Westfield, police executed a search warrant related to its investigation of the scheme in the 16800 block of South Park Drive on Tuesday. A day later, officers went to the 300 block of Hoover Street to conduct another search related to the same investigation.
Upon arriving at the scene they wished to conduct the search at, police found a person dead. Preliminarily, police believe the individual sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The City of Westfield has confirmed that WPD’s investigation of the memorabilia scheme and the person’s death are ongoing. The City also reported that the FBI will be assisting WPD with the investigation.
As of this article’s publication, no additional information on WPD’s investigations of the person’s death and memorabilia scheme had been made available.
