BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A traffic stop in Assumption Parish ended with the seizure of methamphetamine and the arrest of two people on multiple charges.

Jamie Lynn Adams, 39, of Thibodaux, was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstruction of justice, no driver’s license, and no seat belt. She also had a fugitive warrant in Lafourche Parish for a failure to pay child support.

David Paul Landry, 54, of Thibodaux, was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, obstruction of justice, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle. He also had a detainer for probation and parole.

The vehicle they were in was stopped by the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office on LA 308 north of Labadieville.

The sheriff’s office said the stop was initiated due to an equipment violation. Adams was the driver, and Landry was a passenger in the vehicle.

After interviewing them, a K-9 unit was asked to come to the scene. An open-air sniff of their vehicle by a K-9 led deputies to believe there were controlled dangerous substances present.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a “significant amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia,” APSO said.

They said 40 grams of methamphetamine was seized along with a digital scale, multiple loaded and unloaded syringes, and six glass pipes used for smoking.

Adams and Landry were booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center.
