SALUDA, N.C. (WSPA) — Polk County officials have released the name of the victim involved in a fatal incident at Big Bradley Falls over the weekend.

Astrid Angelina Madrid Ticas, 29, has been identified as the woman who fell more than 70 feet from a hiking trail.

Authorities were called to Holbert Cove Road in Saluda on Saturday afternoon, where it appeared Ticas had fallen an estimated 75 to 100 feet. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said rescue personnel worked diligently to recover Ticas’s body following the incident.

The case remains under investigation by Polk County.
