Police investigate violent narcotics transaction in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, La. (WNTZ) – Two people were hospitalized early Monday after a shooting in the 2700 block of Loblolly Lane, according to Alexandria police.

Officers responded around 3 a.m. to reports of gunfire and found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment. One victim was listed in critical condition.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from a suspected narcotics transaction that escalated into violence.

The investigation is ongoing.
