Person dead after Algiers housefire

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A person has died due to injuries sustained in an Algiers housefire.

According to the NOFD, firefighters were dispatched to 325 Homer Street at 4:08 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with a fire in a single-story wood-framed duplex. Firefighters were told someone was in the house. The person was found and transported to a local hospital. They later succumbed to their injuries.

The home suffered significant damage on the right front side of the unit. The fire was under control by 4:44 p.m. The cause is still being investigated.
