WATCH: Deer Creek Fire creates vortex of flames, crews focus on securing life and property
LA SAL, Utah (ABC4) — The Deer Creek Fire that is threatening roughly 80 structures near the Utah-Colorado border stirred a vortex of fire in a rare weather phenomenon over the weekend.
On Saturday, heavy winds stirred the flames high into the air, causing additional damage to structures in the area. Officials confirmed no one was hurt in the swirling flames, but one Bureau of Land Management (BLM) fire engine did sustain some damage and had been pulled from fire operations for repairs.
