Storm Team 10 and the National Hurricane Center are monitoring an area of showers and storms near Florida for tropical development in the coming days. This disturbance is expected to move westward across the northern Gulf coast towards Louisiana by the end of the week. The NHC has a low chance at 30% that this becomes at least a tropical depression. The next name on the list is Dexter.

Regardless of development, heavy storms will track across much of the Gulf coast this week. Tropical rains arrive in Acadiana on Thursday, and we could stay active through the weekend. Flash flooding will be the overall threat from this disturbance.
Fortunately, models are in good agreement that this stays weak and disorganized. A tropical depression or weak tropical storm is possible, anything stronger looks unlikely at this time. The European model is shown for this Thursday with heavy rains over Acadiana but no fully formed tropical system. The GFS (American Model) is very similar as well.
