Deputies arrest Bartholomew County man accused of raping 17-year-old

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. — Deputies have arrested an 18-year-old after conducting a rape investigation in Bartholomew County.

According to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, Nolan Riley of Columbus is facing the following preliminary charges: Rape (Level 3 Felony), Criminal Confinement (Level 5 Felony) and Child Exploitation (Level 4 Felony). The charges were brought forward following the conclusion of an investigation that began in May.

The investigation centered on allegations of a reported sex offense involving a 17-year-old female. BCSO confirmed Riley is being detained at the Bartholomew County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Online court records indicate Riley is scheduled to appear in Bartholomew Superior Court 1 on Tuesday for an initial hearing in the case. As of this article’s publication, no other information was immediately available.
