Gonzales woman killed in Iberville Parish boating accident
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is investigating a deadly boating accident that happened late Thursday night on the East Upper Grand River near Plaquemine.
LDWF said Jennifer Harrison, 56, of Gonzales, was killed when the boat she was riding in hit a log and threw both her and the operator into the water. The accident happened sometime between 11 p.m. and midnight.
The boat operator was rescued and flown to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital with injuries. Harrison’s body was recovered from the water and sent to the Iberville Parish Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
Officials have not said if either person was wearing a life jacket at the time. The investigation is ongoing.
