Deputies find remains believed to be missing woman
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First News) – Deputies in East Feliciana Parish say they’ve found the remains of Mary M. “Peggy” Wilson.
The remains were found in a “cut over” area several hundred yards from her house.
The East Feliciana Coroner’s office will make the official identification and rule on the cause and manner of death.
Deputies do not believe foul play is suspected, but the investigation into her death is ongoing.

Mary M. “Peggy” Wilson, 71, was reported missing on Friday, July 11, after not being seen since July 5. Wilson, who lives on Billy Goat Road in Wilson, is known to have serious medical issues, which EFPSO said may or may not have contributed to her disappearance.

In a statement, Sheriff Jeff Travis said multiple agencies are involved in the search effort, including the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police Aviation Unit, Department of Corrections, Louisiana Search and Rescue K9 teams, Acadian Ambulance and volunteers.
Detectives are exploring all possibilities surrounding Wilson’s disappearance and working to retrace her movements. They are going door-to-door in the Billy Goat Road and Carruth Road areas.
