Catholic Charities of Baton Rouge collecting donations for Texas flood victims

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge (CCDBR) will host a one-day donation drive to help people affected by the recent floods in Texas.

The drive will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at the CCDBR office at 1900 S. Acadian Thruway in Baton Rouge.

CCDBR is asking for $25 Visa or Walmart gift cards and monetary donations of any amount.

“We’ve been in touch with Catholic Charities agencies serving the impacted area, and the greatest need right now is monetary donations and gift cards,” said Stephanie Sterling, executive director of CCDBR. “The devastation this flooding has caused is staggering, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to help our neighbors in Texas.”

The donations will be sent to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of San Antonio, which will give them to people in need.
