HAHNVILLE, La. (WGNO) – Former Tulane wide receiver and Hahnville graduate Jha’Quan Jackson held his inaugural youth football camp at his high school stomping grounds Saturday afternoon.

‘Jha’Quan Jackson’s Youth Football Camp’ brought in many familiar faces: the Tigers’ second-year head football coach Greg Boyne, Jackson himself and fellow Tulane alum and Tennessee Titans teammate Tyjae Spears, and having his longtime teammate by his side made Saturday’s camp an easier experience for its namesake.

“It feels great. I take two steps forward. He takes two steps forward with me. I take two steps back, two steps back with me. Everything we do, we do it together. We’re always there having each other’s back,” Jackson said.

“It means a lot. I know the stuff behind the scenes, everything that he put in: Just trying to organize everything with these people. I know what all goes into it, and just to see my brother doing it is great,” Spears added.

Jackson’s camp debut did suffer a slight weather delay. Rain and lightning surrounded Hahnville Tiger Stadium early on, but after the skies cleared, the kids hit the turf and created an unforgettable moment for the former Green Wave wideout.

“A lot of people go to the NFL but don’t come back and just give back to the community, and that was my biggest thing. I’m glad to be here, to touch everybody heart and just be an asset to the kids,” Jackson added.

His youth camp was the second event at his alma mater this year. Hahnville also hosted a Super Bowl event, during the week leading up to the Chiefs and Eagles championship rematch, and the football exposure Hahnville has received in 2025 also has been a big plus for Tigers’ current head coach feels for the community.

“I think it let’s people see that Hahnville’s a program that can be successful, not just at the high school level, but the players that come here academically can move on to a school like Tulane or other schools. With hard work, a little bit of luck, do the right things, you can go to the next level,” head football coach Greg Boyne added.

Although the Super Bowl youth event took place in February, Jackson spoke with Coach Boyne about his camp the month prior, but the sixth round pick has had his this idea on his heart, since hearing his name called during the 2024 NFL Draft.

“When I first got drafted, I hit my manager up and said ‘I want to have a camp, and this is how I want it to go. If you like it, we can put our heads together,'” Jackson said.

With the 2025 camp’s success, Jackson plans to return to Hahnville every year for as long as he can.
