American Fork City officials announced on Friday that the city is using significant amounts of water. In order to protect their water supply and ensure their pressurized irrigation system is maintained, they are asking residents to stick to assigned days for watering their lawn.
Residents that have an odd numbered address can use their outdoor watering systems on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Residents with even numbered homes are scheduled for Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. On Saturdays, spot watering is available as needed.
City officials say residents should only water between the hours of 1 a.m. and 11 p.m. and attempt to conserve water during those times as well. When possible, though, residents are asked to “avoid watering during less effective times, such as when its windy or during the hottest part of the day”.
American Fork City also suggests residents take other measures to conserve water, such as fixing sprinkler leaks, only water dried out areas, and mow grass higher to “keep moisture in”.
They have also provided a lawn watering guide here.
