YOUNGSVILLE, La. (
KLFY) — The Youngsville City Council approved a budget Thursday night that would increase the salaries for Youngsville Police officers.
Youngsville Police Chief Jean Paul Broussard said this will make a significant difference for the officers who dedicate and risk their lives serving the community.
“The purpose of this meeting was to get the officers to raise the starting pay for the department to $45,000 and also get these officers placed in a pay scale,” Broussard said. “I think the officers deserve it. They put their life on the line every day on the street to make sure the citizens of your homes are safe and they’re dedicated to this community.”
Broussard said the pay will be adapted between 6-20% depending on the officer rank and years of service.
