Our pool boy, WGNO’s Kenny Lopez dropped in.
Good golly Miss Molly! In music history, several performers like Little Richard performed at the Dew Drop Inn. Bet they would’ve loved to take a dip in the pool.
“The Dew Drop Inn is a special place that has a huge legacy when it comes to live music. For instance, Little Richard. I always say that Little Richard wouldn’t be the Little Richard without the Dew Drop Inn,” Curtis Doucette Jr., Owner and Developer of Dew Drop Inn said.
Doucette went on to say, “The Dew Drop Inn was also a place that was a safe place for black people during a time of segregation and that’s why we call our pool the ‘Haven’ pool, it remains that anybody’s welcome.”
“We’re open during the week as well and on the weekends, so during the week if you’re looking for a private pool feel. On weekends we have full bar service and food,” he said.
They want their pool to be a place where guests can lounge and relax.
“Of course we have our traditional lounge chairs and we have pillows that people really enjoy. It is a great way to be close to the pool, and you can dip your feet in the water, but also have a nice cushiony place to lay,” Doucette said.
The pool even has a privacy fence.
“We are right here in the heart of the neighborhood. Our only requirement is 21 and up. The cool thing about this pool is you can make a full day of it, you can leave the pool, and join us for a live show.”
