SHREVEPORT, LA. (KTAL/KMSS) — A suspect in Shreveport who was wanted in connection with a nationwide retail theft ring has been detained by ICE.

According to Corporal Chris Bordelon of the Shreveport Police Department, 19-year-old Javier Serrano was detained by ICE on Saturday, July 5. Police report that Serrano and two of his co-conspirators were arrested during a retail theft operation in Austin, Texas.

Detectives say he was involved in a nationwide retail theft ring targeting Ulta stores, which reportedly resulted in more than $100,000 worth of stolen goods. Serrano was also accused of stealing merchandise from Ulta Beauty on Youree Drive in Shreveport last month.

Serrano’s extradition status is currently uncertain, as he is on hold pending deportation proceedings.
