Crews responded to a call on July 10 at around 1:50 a.m. at a house fire in the 1900 Block of Oak Street.
The Abilene Fire Department (AFD) arrived and found a small, single-story residential structure fully involved in a heavy fire, with flames showing from all sides of the home, threatening another nearby residence.
Firefighters say that multiple attack lines were deployed to control the fire as crews worked to contain it within the original structure. The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire, with several reports of vagrants squatting inside.
No injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident; however, the home was completely destroyed by the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the estimated damages amount to ,000.
