Shreveport’s Deputy Chief of Police retiring after 25 years of service

A special ceremony was held by the City Council on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, honoring Deputy Chief of Police Antwoine White. The council thanked White for his 25 years of public service. White was overcome with emotion.

“I thank the council and the administration for your support over the years. I thank my co-workers. I also want to extend my thanks to the citizens of Shreveport,” White said.

White’s family was present during the ceremony. He especially thanked his mom.

“I want to thank my mom. My mom survived cancer. I just want to tell you thank you mom,” White said.

He said his mom had him when she was just 15. They grew up together and faced down her cancer diagnosis together.

Council members had high praise for his dedication to the city.

“You took care of my son and my mom. All the students of Caddo Parish. The shoppers in Wal-Mart that would come shake your hand. The children who would run up to you and say I want to work in law enforcement because of you,” said Councilwoman Tabatha Taylor, District A.

“Congratulations and good luck in the future,” said Councilman Gary Brooks, District B.

“Thank you to your family. I know how hard it is for a family of police officers. The sacrifice you have to make. The holidays. Not knowing if they’re going to come home,” said Councilman Grayson Boucher, District D.

Mayor Tom Arceneaux spoke about how much he relied on Chief White.

“I’ve always enjoyed the friendship. I will miss you very much. You’ll have hard shoes to fill,” Arceneaux said.

Chief White’s last day will be July 15.
