PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — A Prince William County Police Department officer was arrested Wednesday after allegedly unlawfully using police resources to gather information on a man, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

Police say Godson Vondee, 42, has been charged with one count of stalking and five counts of use of a computer to obtain identifying information.

According to police investigation, Vondee used law enforcement databases multiple times while on duty to gather information on a man without any valid reason in relation to his job duties. Police say the victim was known to a female friend of Vondee.

The investigation also revealed Vondee had been in the area of the victim’s home more than once over a 15-month timeframe.

When the allegations were brought to police in June, Vondee was placed on leave, and an administrative and criminal investigation was conducted by the Police Department’s Office of Professional Standards and Criminal Investigations Division.

Vondee had been with the department for six years at the time of the investigation.

Police say Vondee was arrested Wednesday and is being held without bond as he awaits his August 19 court appearance.
