“We’ll do as much as we can to make sure that we’re doing our part with people on the ground, with monetary resources, and making sure that we are holding Republicans accountable to the disastrous votes that they’re taking both in Washington and, of course, in Richmond,” Martin told 8News.
Martin said the DNC will spend at least seven figures in Virginia to try and reach voters who may have turned on the Democratic Party in recent elections.
“We’re gonna be exclusively focused on an economic message that gives people a sense that their better days are ahead of them, not behind them, and that the anxiety that they feel right now doesn’t have to be a permanent state,” Martin said.
Martin acknowledged that with recent polling showing nearly 60% of Americans have an unfavorable view of the Democratic Party, Democrats have their work cut out for them in Virginia.
“This is an opportunity for us to actually remind voters that it’s the Democratic Party that’s committed to your economic success,” Martin told 8News. “It’s the Democratic Party that’s fighting for your family and for your community. It’s the Democratic Party that’s gonna be focused on building an economic agenda that’s going to lift everyone’s boats, not just a few at the top.”
8News has been in contact with the Republican National Committee about speaking with their Chairman, Michael Whatley, about Virginia’s elections. We look forward to reporting on that story in the coming weeks.
