Crews rescue multiple drivers in Halifax County flooding

HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Search and rescue teams with the Virginia State Police rescued four people after the vehicles they were traveling in were overtaken by floodwaters.

Crews rescued two drivers Tuesday night along North Fork Church Road in Halifax County. According to the VSP, one driver walked to higher ground on their own. The second driver had to be rescued from their vehicle.

Wednesday morning, two people were rescued along the 3000 block of Kingwoods Road. They were standing on the vehicle’s roof when they were found, according to police.

Deputies in Halifax County assisted in the rescues.

The Virginia State Police encourages people to “obey VDOT signs, barrels, and barricades marking high water.”
