According to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, Antoni Simmons, 44, was charged on Wednesday with fourth-degree theft by unlawful taking. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 18 months of incarceration and a $10,000 fine.
The theft charges stem from an incident on April 30, 2025. Prosecutors allege that while Simmons was dispatched to Newfield, he went through the victim’s purse and stole around $220 in cash. Later in the day, the victim discovered the missing money from her purse.
The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office says it uncovered surveillance video that shows Simmons committing the crime.
Simmons is due in court on September 4, 2025.
