BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A new program will be added to Southern University’s College of Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies, starting in the fall semester.

According to university officials, students can obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media Arts. The program is a collaboration between the Department of Visual and Performing Arts and the Department of Mass Communication.

It was designed to teach students the creative and technical skills necessary for success in today’s digital media industry.

“This new program presents an exciting opportunity for students to cultivate their creative and technical abilities within a cutting-edge field,” said Darrell Roberson, co-director of digital media arts. “We are confident that our graduates will be well-equipped to make significant contributions to the expanding digital media landscape.”

The Louisiana Board of Regents approved the program and offers specialized concentrations such as digital screen arts production, digital performance fusion, visual arts and motion graphics, digital sports production, and recording arts.

The courses include Introduction to Digital Media, Digital Storytelling, Web Design and Development, Digital Video Editing, Digital Imaging, Computer Music (MIDI Seq), and Recording Techniques.

Students are required to meet with their academic advisor before registering for the program.
