High-end outdoor brand Arc’teryx closing Corte Madera store, looking for new location

(KRON) — Arc’teryx, a high-end outdoorsy brand that recently began selling $5,000 e-powered hiking pants, will be closing one of its Bay Area stores. In a post on Instagram, the Canadian apparel company announced that it will be closing its Corte Madera store on July 23.

While the company gave no reason for the closure, Arc’teryx said it was in the market for a new North Bay location.

“We remain deeply committed to our community across the North Bay and are on the hunt for our future home in Marin County,” the post read.

While the Corte Madera location is shuttering, Arc’teryx has three other Bay Area locations that will remain open.

“During this transitional time, we are still open and have product experts ready to help at our stores at Stanford Center and Santana Row and the Livermore Outlet, which has just opened in a newer, larger space to serve our growing NorCal community,” the brand wrote.

“We continue to remain committed to the Bay Area community and encourage you to follow us here for updates on local event and pop-up experiences,” Arc’teryx wrote.

Known for its waterproof Gore-Tex jackets, knitwear and down parkas, Arc’teryx is considered an influence in the “gorpcore” fashion trend, in which outdoor recreation clothing is worn as streetwear.
