The new judicial building that’s being constructed sits next to the old government center.
WRBL’s Chuck Williams was at the ceremony on Thursday where officials raised a beam that held the United States and State of Georgia flags that was put on top of the building.
The new building is eight stories high and will hold most of the Muscogee County Court System: judges, prosecutors, clerks and security will be working inside the building.
Construction workers and those who will be working inside, assigned the beam that was placed on the roofline of the building.
There nearly 300 construction workers on the site and have been working to put a shell of the steel and concrete structure in place.
The workers were also celebrated in the ceremony and a BBQ lunch was provided for everyone involved in the construction of the new judicial center.
