The local shelter is working with Kerrville Pets Alive and Because of Brucey Animal Rescue in Lafayette to provide resources for Texas families with pets. Some items needed are dry and wet dog and cat food, leashes, collars, crates, kennels, and cleaning supplies.
“Many animals have been left behind without the most basic necessities, and shelters on the ground are stretched to their limits. No animal should be left to suffer in the chaos of disaster,” said a spokesperson for Rescue Alliance.
Drop off items: People in the Baton Rouge area can drop off donations at the PetSmart in Gonzales at 40451 Lowes Ave.
Buy supplies online: Items can be purchased directly from an Amazon Wishlist that will be shipped directly to Kerrville, Texas.
Donate money: Cash can be donated via PayPal, Venmo, and Cash App.
Sign up to volunteer: Rescue Alliance said a volunteer transport driver is needed to deliver donations to Texas. Anyone interested can email disaster@animalrecovery.org or call 225-330-2035.
