CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — The Charles County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has launched a homicide investigation after a man was found shot outside an apartment unit in Waldorf.

On Thursday, July 3, around 4:23 p.m., deputies responded to the 3000 block of October Place for the report of an unconscious man lying on the ground outside of an apartment door.

Once on the scene, authorities discovered that the man had been shot in his upper body. First responders tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office identified the man as 47-year-old David Leroy Raley, of Waldorf.

Raley’s body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.
