Reader’s Digest names Market Street in Frederick as most beautiful main streets in US

FREDERICK, Md. (DC News Now) — When you think of “Main Street,” some words that may come to mind are historic, local, scenic and charming. They are usually known for their array of small businesses, boutiques, and coffee shops, and their character.

Main streets in every community have their own flair and uniqueness that showcase the beauty and history of their town. In the DMV, one city in Maryland is home to one of the most beautiful main streets.

In June 2025, Reader’s Digest named Market Street the most beautiful main street in America.

Market Street sits in the heart of Frederick with a skyline against the Catoctin Mountain. With murals painted along the strip and art installations that showcase the beauty of Downtown Frederick, Market Street is the charm and pulse of the city.

The main street is home to bars, restaurants, bakeries, pizzerias, boutiques and a craft brewing scene that draws in visitors.

“The hip-meets-historic vibe of the main drag features murals and art installations, restaurants, boutiques and a huge craft brewing scene. The Delaplaine Arts Center is free to the public, and the North Market Pop Shop sells 400 types of vintage sodas,” described the Reader’s Digest in its report.
