AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Amarillo Fire Department released further information on equipment and personnel deployed to assist with search, rescue and recovery operations in Central Texas areas impacted by recent flooding.

According to the department, Engine 41 and four trained firefighters were deployed on Sunday as part of a Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System All-Hazards assignment, a coordinated effort to assist in the impacted region.

AFD personnel are expected to serve for up to 14 days, according to the department, with the possibility of a crew swap depending on the ongoing needs of the mission.

“Our thoughts are with the families and communities who have lost so much. We are proud to send our personnel to assist in any way we can, and we remain committed to the recovery of those impacted,” said a statement from the department. “This deployment is a testament to the strength of mutual aid partnerships and the dedication of Texas firefighters who rise to meet the call when tragedy strikes.”
