Woman struck, killed on Indy’s near SW side

INDIANAPOLIS – An investigation is underway after a woman was struck and killed on Indy’s near southwest side Tuesday morning.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the crash happened just after 3 a.m. in the 2900 block of Kentucky Avenue.

Officers found a woman lying on the road unconscious. She was transported to an area hospital where she died from her injuries, according to police.

IMPD said the driver stayed on scene, showed no signs of impairment, and was cooperative with investigators. He was taken to a local hospital for a blood draw, which is standard procedure.
