Pedestrian killed in Montgomery County crash

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Montgomery County officials are investigating after a pedestrian was killed in a crash on Monday afternoon.

The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) said in a news release that personnel responded to the area of Muncaster Mill Road and Applewood Lane around 12:05 p.m. for a crash involving a pedestrian.

Police believe that the driver of a Buick Envision crossed the opposing lane of traffic and hit the pedestrian, who was on the sidewalk at the time of the crash.

The pedestrian, a woman, died there.

MCPD said that the Buick’s driver stayed at the scene after this crash.

As of Monday afternoon, police were still investigating the crash.
