Louisiana senators introduce resolution celebrating LSU baseball
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Two Louisiana senators introduced a resolution celebrating the LSU baseball team’s College World Series win.

Sens. John Kennedy and Bill Cassidy congratulated the Tigers for their eighth national championship. LSU defeated Coastal Carolina in Game 2 of the series finals, 5-3. An average of 2.5 million viewers watched

the championship series on ESPN.

After the title win, Coach Jay Johnson was named the national coach of the year by D1 Baseball and the American Baseball Coaches Association. Players Derek Curiel and Casan Evans were named to the Freshman All-Americans First Team.

“The LSU Tigers proved once again that they are NCAA baseball’s gold standard, delivering an undefeated run in Omaha and bringing yet another national title home to Louisiana. I’m proud to help introduce this resolution recognizing their hard work and congratulating Coach Jay Johnson and this impressive team on a job well done,” said Kennedy.

“It’s hard to have a better year for baseball in Louisiana than this. A huge congratulations to the LSU Tigers on fighting their way to another national championship up in Omaha,” said Cassidy.

A resolution was also introduced celebrating the LSU Shreveport baseball team’s 59-0 winning streak this season and its National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics championship win.
