“His anniversary is always like reliving that day. The day that they knocked on the door and gave me the note saying that they came to bring me the bad news that my son was killed,” she said.
It’s been since 2022 she learned her son was gone forever in a hit and run on West Gilman Road. She said she wouldn’t have peace at night until she truly knows what happened to her son. Answers she said were not just for her but her son’s 19-year-old daughter he left behind.
“I feel that where they found Chris’ body there’s no way that no one could say that they don’t know what happened to Chris that night,” Scott said. “His body was literally that circle; he was in the street, so they had to go around his body or somebody just put his body there, which one? What happened to him that night, that’s my cry. That’s my answer. Look into what happened to him that night.”
News 10 reached out to Lafayette Police Department about the case and was informed the case is currently suspended with all leads being exhausted and no new evidence, but for Scott, justice is still worth fighting for.
“I want them to come forward, like just come forward and say, ‘Yes I hit him, but I didn’t realize I hit him,’ or ‘I did it and at the time I was scared’ or whatever. I could respect that, but just know that I need the closure of what happened. Whoever did it at this point now I forgive them. I have forgiven you, but I still want to know what happened to my son and if you know, if you were in the area, just come forth and please just say, ‘Yes, I saw what happened to your son.’ That’s all I want,” said Scott.
Every July 4 is a reminder of pain for a mother who lost her only child and if she could say one thing it would be to let him know she misses him.
