Church leaders confirmed 9-year-old Lainey Landry was one of the victims of the flooding at Camp Mystic.
According to the church, Lainey’s grandparents, Brenda and her late husband, Henry, are St. George Catholic Church parishioners.
St. George posted a heartfelt message on Facebook about her passing with the headline, “In Loving Memory of Lainey Landry.”
The Facebook post included a picture of Lainey and the following message.
“With deep sorrow, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Lainey Landry, the beloved 9-year-old granddaughter of Brenda and the late Henry Landry. Lainey’s young life was tragically lost in the recent flooding near Mystic Camp.
We ask our St. George Catholic Church family to hold Lainey’s parents, Ben and Natalie Landry, and her cousins, Graham and Hallie (parents, Will and Stephanie Landry) —students at St. George Catholic School—in your prayers. Please offer a Rosary for the families seeking comfort, strength, and healing as they grieve the loss of their children.
As we mourn Lainey’s passing, we also lift up the families of the ten young girls who remain missing in the wake of the flood. May God surround them with hope, courage, and the unwavering support of a loving community in this time of deep uncertainty.
Let us unite in faith and cling to the mercy and love of our Lord.”
The death toll from the flooding has now reached over 100.
