ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A 17-year-old offender faces weapons charges after police responded to a large party at 3:45 a.m. Sunday morning, and found a handgun on one party-goer who ran off when they arrived.

According to the Rockford Police Department, patrol officers were called to a home in the 3400 block of Greendale Drive, south of Harrison Avenue and west of S. Alpine Road for reports of a loud party.

Officers said a large crowd was gathered outside the home when they arrived. There, police said a 17-year-old was seen getting out of a car and running off.

Police chased the teen and took him into custody after a loaded handgun with an extended magazine was found in his possession.

The teen faces charges of obstructing, aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, and no valid firearm owner’s identification.
