SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Don’t expect much rain anytime soon.  Upper-level high pressure will keep the ArkLaTex rather dry through the rest of this week and most of next week.  Temperatures will remain a little above normal.

Futurecast outlook for the next 36 hours

Rain chances remain low:  The Blend of Models, which has been doing a good job at limiting the rain in its outlooks recently, continues to indicate that much of the ArkLaTex will remain dry over the next several days.  Hi-res models, including Futurecast, show scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will be possible late Thursday afternoon and evening.  Both it and the model blend show the best chance of seeing a little rain will be over the NE half of the area in NE TX, NW LA, and SW AR.

Plenty of heat & below normal rain through next week 4

Long-range outlook…below normal rain through next week: While we will have at least some chance of rain during most of the next ten days, chances will remain rather low. With upper-level high pressure dominating our weather pattern, temperatures will remain above normal.  Overnight lows will likely remain in the mid to upper 70s.  Daytime highs will likely remain in the mid 90s.  Be mindful of the combination of heat and humidity. The heat index could approach 105 degrees at times.   If long-range models are correct, we could see an uptick in rainfall in the ArkLaTex during the middle of July.  Stay tuned!
